Digital Meridian Imaging
At Oriental Healing Concepts, we pride ourselves on providing evidence based acupuncture. What this means then, is that we must have visible proof showing what we need to treat, and why. We accomplish this using the Acugraph Digital Meridian Imaging system.
What is it?
Digital Meridian Imaging is a tool used to assist in assessing your Qi flow. It is an objective test designed to give us a look at how things are doing in your body. Think of it as an x-ray or MRI for your Qi flow.
How does it work?
Using a non-invasive scan, we test specific meridian points for their conductivity. All of the points are located on the hand, wrist, foot and ankle areas. The test is not uncomfortable in any way, and takes less than 2 minutes. The computer than takes the readings and immediately produces a graph for you and the practitioner to see.
What does it mean?
By seeing where exactly Qi is and is not flowing, we can help assess why you may be experiencing specific symptoms, or, better yet, how we can help prevent symptoms from showing up. This assists us in formulating an appropriate treatment plan specifically for you, whether that includes acupuncture, herbs, dietary recommendations and/or exercise therapy.
How often is this scan performed?
Each time you have a full acupuncture treatment, an Acugraph scan will be performed. In this way, we can accurately balance the channels that are out of balance at that time. Also, all scans are saved and can be immediately compared to see your progress, as well as your individual tendencies. In this way we are always treating the underlying imbalances, not just the symptoms.
